Residential Project 000102
Start with a rare site then respect all it has to offer. The site is on the eastern shore of a small alpine lake with southerly views of a magnificent mountain. The site is peppered with several mature trees. The commission is for a family retreat with capacity for entertaining. The result is a unique clustering of three cottage forms interconnected with respect to function, privacy, and a unique sense of place and surrounded by private patio terraces. The main form houses the great room with a centrally located kitchen and a dining room projected towards the lake in an oversized window box. The views are uninterrupted from lake to mountain. Upstairs, within the timber roof structure, is located the family media room. A glass and timber connector sides a private stone terrace and porch. At its end is a hub connecting the adult cottage as well as access to the kid's wing above the garage and family entry. Each room is distinctive with its own views and architectural identity.Collaboration:
