Structural Designer
Jacob Denham joins MWA as a Project Engineer, bringing a diverse background
of experience and skills in the construction industry. Growing up near the bay area in
Northern California, Jacob is bilingual in Spanish and moved to Reno for college in
2011. After graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno, in 2016 with a bachelor’s
degree in civil engineering, Jacob took time off to pursue competitive snowboarding and
has lived in the Truckee area ever since. Falling in love with the mountain lifestyle,
Jacob continued his engineering career specializing in designing custom residential
houses dealing with heavy snow loads and seismic forces in the Reno-Tahoe area.
Currently registered as an EIT (Engineer-in-Training), Jacob is working on his
licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) in both Nevada and California. With close to
half a decade of structural design work, Jacob brings added value to the MWA team
through a strong work ethic, a desire to constantly learn and his meticulous nature.
Before working as a structural designer in Truckee, Jacob worked as an estimator for a
large dirt work subcontractor in Reno specializing in mass excavation, wet/dry utilities,
concrete and asphalt. Jacob also spent multiple summers working as a landscape
laborer to fund the winters during his snowboard career.
Off the clock, Jacob spends most of his time hanging out with his golden retriever
Blue Gene and snowboarding at Sugar Bowl during the winter. In the summer, you can
find him wakeboarding on Donner Lake, golfing at Tahoe Donner, or training MMA at
elevated mixed martial arts.

All Staff
We have had the pleasure of working on many successful projects through the years with MWA, Inc. It is such a successful relationship because not only are we both creative and forward thinking but we also have the ability to check our egos at the door, blend our styles of projects and project management to create the most positive outcome for the client. Our relationships and firms have flourished even in more difficult time because of our professionalism. We also share interest in the local politics which create a better knowledge of the design environment for the client.
